Would you like the chance to work? New initiative for young people in Merseyside (aged 16-25)
Young people with moderate learning disabilities are being offered the chance to gain valuable job skills, thanks to a new Barnardo’s initiative.
‘A Chance to Work’ is a short course providing fast-track, on-the-job training for young people, between 16-25 years, in Merseyside.
This practical course will equip you with the skills and confidence to move into employment, through two ASDAN accredited courses and work placements.
All students on the programme will:
• Achieve accredited qualifications through ASDAN
• Experience work placements
• Be able to access employment more independently
• Have increased confidence
• Have improved ability to interact socially
• Be less isolated in their communities
• Have improved understanding of how to keep well and safe.
The next course will take place from May to August, for 15-17 hours over three days per week.
You will be responsible for organising your own transport to and from the course and job placements. Some participants may be eligible for support with transport – this can be discussed when you submit your application.
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
• You must be aged 16-25 and have with Moderate Learning Difficulties.
• You must live in Merseyside
• You should have entry level 2 Literacy and wish to progress into employment.
