Women’s running club
Jenny from Mencap Liverpool asked me to go to a Running Leader Course in Wavertree Sport’s Centre. I thought it was great of Jenny to ask me to go with her I learnt all about how to do games and how to run it was very exciting to understand how to be a run leader. We were told how to perform warm ups and warm downs so that we didn’t injure ourselves when taking part in the running clubs.
I am proud of myself that I am now a qualified run leader.
I became a run leader because Mencap Liverpool asked me to help run the new women’s running club which are training to take part in the Race For Life in July. We want to encourage more women to come running.
Anyone can join the group we meet at 10.30am Tuesday mornings at Sefton Park every week.
The group is open to all ability levels, even if you’ve never run before you can come along and the group will help you to build your fitness levels and have fun running with us.
It has given me the confidence to help others and I want to give others the confidence to help themselves. I like the running club because its fun and it keeps me healthy. Its an inspiration!
We are doing this to support the cancer charity Race For Life.
