#What Helped Me Natalie’s Story

I’ve been coming to Mencap Liverpool for about three years. I come into the Womens Group and the Thursday drop in for lunch.
I came to Mencap Liverpool to make more friends and be a bit more social ‘cause I wasn’t myself. Sheldon the Outreach worker was helping me to get out and do things. Coming to Mencap Liverpool makes me more happy so I am not just staying in my flat.
I joined in with Eat Well Spend Less (as part of the What helped me Projects) and I learnt how to cut vegetables and different things. I need more confidence to do stuff in the kitchen. I have a support worker who helps me to do cooking at home. I make food from scratch. Last week I did chicken marinade in Soy Sauce – it was lovely. I am getting more skills all the time. I love it!
In the eat Well Spend less we have made soups, cous cous, cookies and lots of different things.

I have also joined Sarahs Sticker Club and I am also looking at volunteering opportunities for me in things like a pet shop. I also now go to Slimming World with my mum and am looking forward to starting the Can Do Cooking course in Mencap Liverpool soon. I would also like to start to learn cake baking.
