I am going to talk about my volunteering job at Mencap. I started 3 weeks ago now and I was nervous when I started. I didn’t know anyone in the office and having Aspergers Syndrome I was shy about talking to new people and performing new tasks. Everyone in the office has made me feel very welcome and they are open and friendly.
I am responsible for maintaining the database and making sure the details added to it are correct and also kept confidential. I also assist in other tasks around the office such as photocopying, shredding documents, editing photos etc.
I was also present at the enjoyable coffee morning for Comic Relief on 18th March.
I respect Mencap as an organisation for promoting and assisting people in all walks of life. I am happy to be a volunteer for them.
