Trustee meeting highlights: 24/08/2009
The Mencap Liverpool trustee board met at the Gateway Centre, London Road on 24th August 2009. The trustees was attending were Ed Gilchrist, Ed Walker, Suzanna Tomlinson, John Courtney and Alan Griffiths (Find out more about the trustees). The chief executive of Mencap Liverpool, Sarah Jones and the Project co-ordinator of the Access to Heritage Project, Ticky Lowe, were also in attendance.
The meeting was the first for Suzanna Tomlinson who has been co-opted onto the board of trustees. She has a son with learning disability and will bring some much needed younger and fresher eyes to the board.
Ticky Lowe gave a presentation to the trustees about the Access to Heritage Project, what it has achieved in the past 12 months and what it hopes to achieve in the future. Access to Heritage has won awards for its work at making heritage venues (museums, art galleries etc) more accessible to people with learning disability. The board expressed their desire to see the Access to Heritage Project continue to expand and develop over the next 12 months.
The board agreed a draft set of new working financial procedures. These will do more to safeguard the finances of Mencap Liverpool and improve the way that money is handled by the organisation, and also decrease the risks of fraud.
