Trustee Matt raises £1,180 cycling Mallorca!

Our Vice Chairman Matt Smith, took on his toughest challenge yet to raise money for Mencap Liverpool – an extreme cycle ride called the Mallorca 312. On 26th April, Matt cycled 312km round the perimeter of the mountainous island with climbs of 4300m. It took him 12 hours and 30 minutes, 1.5 hours inside the strict cut off time of 14 hours.

Matt is no stranger to endurance events but reckons this was his biggest test to date, he said; “The combination of the mountains, the distance, the heat and just having to stay in the saddle for 12 and a half hours made it extremely tough mentally. Not to mention fitting 100 mile plus training rides round the day job! But I’m absolutely thrilled with the generosity of my sponsors having raised £1,180 plus gift aid.”

The brilliant total raised of £1,180 will really make a significant difference to our work. Many thanks to Matt for all his efforts and to his sponsors for supporting him.

Well done Matt!
