It was a really early start for the Big Day Out but I was excited and looking forward to the day. Wirral Mencap picked us up in their mini bus and we set off with them for our Big Day Out. It was a long journey and we got to Silverstone about 2pm. After we’d parked up we then got on anther bus which took us to the part of the racecourse where the event was.

There was lots to see and lots going on. You could choose to go to a workshop and there were lots of different choices such as drama, art, table tennis, jewelry making. I chose to do the jewelry making and I made 2 necklaces which I really like. 

We got to choose our own lunch and picked a cheese and ham sandwich.

After lunch there was a meeting and different people spoke about what Mencap do. One of the people from our group also stood up and read out a poem they had written.

I was surprised to find out how many Mencap’s there are in the country, there was a picture of a map showing where all of the Mencap’s are, I was really impressed.

I was also really lucky and won 2 prizes in the raffle. I won a photography session and I’m going to get some pictures of my dog. I also won tickets to a Manchester City football match, I’m going to take my dad with me.

Before we left we had a look around the market area. We got home about 7pm.

I had a great time at the Big Day out, i made new friends with Wirral Mencap and I enjoyed spending the day with our trustee Maria. My favorite part of the day was making jewelry, I’ve decided I want to make more jewelry.
