Phil’s Abseil

When I heard about the cathedral abseil I decided this was something I would like to do. I’ve never done anything like this before and I do have a bit of a fear of heights but I thought it would be a great way to support Mencap Liverpool.

On the day of the abseil I felt OK and wasn’t really giving it too much thought as I didn’t want to make myself nervous. When I got to top I still felt OK and I started to abseil down. The nerves started to kick in when I got past the arch and realised there was no where to put my feet. The person running the abseil told me to lower myself down using the rope and equipment we had and this is what I did.

When I got to the bottom I couldn’t actually believe that I had just abseiled down the cathedral and my family were really surprised too because of my fear of heights. It was a great feeling though to have completed it and all my family were really proud of me.

I’m hoping to raise £100 for Mencap Liverpool.
