Mencap Liverpool is excited to announce the launch of our new Easy Read service available to organisations from September. 

We will use our expertise and experience to put your information into Easy Read, an accessible format specifically designed to be easy to understand for people with a learning disability.

Our Easy Read service joins our learning disability awareness training ‘What about ME’ to form part of the growing number of accessibility services we are now able to offer to organisations.

Since the introduction of the Equality Act (2010), all organisations are required to produce information in an accessible format, so that people with different learning needs and/or disabilities are able to fully understand them. Producing documents in Easy Read is a great way of ensuring you meet this requirement, and that your information is accessible, not only to people with a learning disability, but to those with other needs, such as people who speak English as a second language.

For a competitive fee, we are able to offer any of the following:

We can check your existing Easy Read documents and make recommendations and/or amendments
We can support our members (people with a learning disability) to check your Easy Read documents and then make recommendations and/or amendments
We can take your existing documents and design Easy Read versions of them for you.

We will always strive to check any work we do for you with our members to ensure that it is accessible.
