Jamie’s First Post!

My name is Jamie David Meyrick and I love working with other volunteers and qualified staff in Mencap Liverpool. I basically have a set routine of when I arrive, I phone my mum to say that I have arrived and I sign myself in on the register. I am very independent which means I get the bus to and from the office. The things which I enjoy doing when I am in the office are guillotine, hovering, shredding, laminating, photocopying, and making different signs.Every week I personally take my designs home and do them in my own time. I feel everyone who I work with are strictly amazing they should all be on the x factor, and strictly come dancing, and a question of sport, and the royal family, I really love and I have total respect for everyone who I work with and I really enjoy working in a staff team.

When I am not working in the office I volunteer in different places in Liverpool for example I help out in Lark Lane Community Centre. I also work in the Barnardos charity shop on Penny Lane two and a half days a week, Wednesday and Friday afternoon, there are times when I get picked up because of the mad traffic and also the school traffic is even worse.

I remember all the great times in my life like when I went to Switzerland with Liverpool FC in Zurich. My Squad who went took their own 4 LFC coaches plus photographers, Greg and Paul, they interviewed me plus others in my squad and we were on the LFC channel and were also on the LFC official website and we were there for a whole week. We stayed in a hotel in Zurich, it was fantastic and every single one of us in the Squad shared bedrooms which were all on suite with a shower and a television! But the main reason we went was we played in a international disability football tournament and my squad actually won the whole tournament and we were presented with the European trophy when Liverpool played Trabzonspor at Anfield on the pitch at half time in which the atmosphere was electric, and the crowd gave us a great send off.
