Do you want to have your say about the future of employment support for people with a learning disability?

Then come along to Mencap and Mencap Liverpool’s Big Cuts follow up event this Friday. During the event we will be hosting workshops for people with a learning disability, where we will listen to your views on what sort of employment you might want and what support you need along the way. All the information we gather from you will be then be put together as research to present to the Minister for Employment – we want to ensure that your voices are heard by those making decisions to help ensure the best possible outcomes for people with a learning disability. The government has a distinct lack of research presenting the views of people with a learning disability directly – so this is a brilliant chance to have your voice heard first!

Alongside these workshops, we will also be running workshops for parents and carers – these will be centered around the new Employment Support Allowance, the processes and assessments involved when moving onto this benefit, as well as how to challenge and appeal decisions that might unfairly reflect a person’s needs.
