Are you the parent or carer of someone with a learning disability?
Are you the parent or carer of someone with a learning disability? Would you like to have your say about the health services you receive?
On Wednesday, August 10, a meeting is being held to discuss making health services better for people with learning disabilities.
The meeting will give you the opportunity to share your views and experiences on Health Care Services within Liverpool at present. Such Health Services include primary care services (for example GPs and dentists), hospital Trusts, and mental health services.
The event is being held following a request from the Strategic Health Authority (SHA) that every local Primary Care Trust consults with people with learning disabilities and their carers on how services provided meet the needs of people with learning disabilities. This information will then be feed back to the SHA.
Your opinions will be used to inform a Big Health Check Day, on September 9, and ultimately, an action plan to improve the areas you identify as requiring improvement.
The meeting will also be used to report back to you on the positive effect you had on last year’s Health Self-Assessment.
This important event is taking place, between 10.30am – 1pm, at Walton Cornerstones, 2 Liston Street, Walton, Liverpool L4 5RT.
For more information, or to confirm your attendance, please contact Viv Mansfield at Mersey Care on 0151 737 4863, or John Engwall from Liverpool Primary Care Trust on 0151 296 7579.
The Liverpool Learning Disability Making It Happen Partnership are supporting this ‘Health Self-Assessment’ process, and would greatly value your feedback and input as family carers.
