Sarah Jones – Chief Executive

12573021_10100449441111052_2837215072599235366_nI’m Sarah, and I’m the Chief Exec. I’ve worked for Mencap Liverpool since July 2009 and I love it!  I’m the boss so I spend half my time supporting the staff team and the other half developing new project ideas and relationships with funders and partner organisations.

When I’m not working I love baking cakes, pottering in my little garden, training for marathons and Stand Up Paddle boarding.

Jacqui Bouch – Office Manager

JacquiI began working for Mencap Liverpool in the summer of 2014, my role involves looking after the day to day running of office and looking after the whole team, the members and the Chief Executive. My team describe me as their ray of Sunshine. They admire my kindness, the time I give everyone and that I’m super dependable and organised, although I do have some organised clutter lying round from time to time!

A cup of tea in the morning sets me up for the day. My son and I make a great team and my family is most important to me. I enjoy listening to music, going out for nice food and spending time with my girls. As long as everyone is healthy and well I’m happy. Fairness and equality is important to me too, I love the thought of an inclusive world and this is what makes my job important to me!

Jeanette McHugh – Directions Team Manager

JeanetteI joined Mencap Liverpool & Sefton in February 2020 (although I’d got to know some of the team when I worked for another organisation).  My role involves delivering the Directions project, as well as empowering our members I give confidence to all around me. My team describe me as ‘Mother Earth’ as I’m calm, positive and honest.

My family and friends are very important to me, I have been with my husband for 40 years and would be lost without him. Together we share two children, two granddaughters and we have a new grandson!  Home is a special place for me where everyone can come back and stay, it’s also where my 3 dogs keep me company and make me smile.

Jo Bruce – Independence Trainer

JO BRUCEI joined Mencap Liverpool & Sefton in Jan 2020.  My role is to empower people to be the best version of themselves. My team describe me as the ‘entertainer’, I’m witty, kind, honest. I believe honesty is at the heart of everything.
I am a people lover so can get away with being a wee bit cheeky.

I welcome everyone as an old friend that I haven’t met yet. My family are the most important thing in the world to me and I love spending time with them. I wake up each morning wanting to make each day the best it can be, for everyone I come across, and I take it as a new chance to be the best person I can be – I don’t often achieve either but that’s my goal.

Siobhan Waters – Development Manager

SiobhanI joined Mencap Liverpool & Sefton two weeks before the first COVID Lockdown in March 2020. My role is to develop our charity and make it visible! Inspiring Liverpool to see people with a Learning Disability differently, my life aim is to create equality for all. My team describe me as their own personal cheerleader, I’m enthusiastic, positive, kind and a breath of fresh air – it’s all about your energy!

I bounce off and surround myself with positive people and am a threat to all, as I love learning and I’m capable of anything I put my mind to! I love people, adore my family and live for seeing my girls on a weekend. Being the social butterfly I am, I thrive when working with people to collaborate wonderful things, the sky has no limit…..

Marcus Bull – Outreach Team Leader

MarcusI joined the team in February 2020. My role is to ensure everyone that needs support in our area is reached. My team describe me as Creative as I’m confident and love spending my fridays with the members hosting our afternoon ‘Singalongs’ before the weekend. Charlie my cockerpoo is my ‘deamon’, I couldn’t be without him and the members love him!

Music has always been a big part of my life, I play trombone and have “too many” guitars. I spend a lot of my time with my partner learning Argentinian Tango, she is much better than I am. I don’t have a motorcycle at the moment, but I once won a customised Ducati Monster on the reality makeover show.

Emma Hammond – Volunteer Coordinator

Hi. I’m Emma! I have only been in the job since 5th November 2020 (bonfire night!) and I am responsible for recruiting and training new volunteers to support members of Mencap and beyond.

I have not lived in Liverpool for very long but already love the city and the wonderful people I am meeting as part of my new role! I am a mum of 4 and a grandma of 6 and am very busy with them most of my free time. When I do get a moment to myself I love to bake, walk in Sefton Park and go out dancing (but not at the same time!)

I believe that everyone has something positive to share with the world and I try my best to support people in finding out what that is! Sharing is caring.
