Join the board

We are seeking two new trustees to join our diverse and committed board.

Mencap Liverpool currently has a staff team of seven and six trustees. Amongst the board we have a diverse mix of age, background, skills and experience. We are open to applicants from the private, public and voluntary sectors, and to those seeking their first Trustee role as well as to experienced Trustees.

Of particular interest will be candidates with skills and experience in:

  • Learning disability – we would particularly welcome applications from candidates with personal experience of learning disability (close relative or friend).
  • Marketing/PR

New board members will have a passion for equality and have the confidence and ability to become part of an experienced and highly-motivated board, guiding Mencap Liverpool’s future.

We have approximately 10 board meetings each year, which are normally held at 7pm on Monday evenings and last no longer than 2 hours. The ability to be available to attend will be an important consideration. Trustees are also expected to attend our AGM, 2-3 fundraising events and at least one members’ steering group per annum (held on the Tuesday preceding each board meeting).

Mencap Liverpool trusteeships are voluntary positions, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.

For more information, please read our role description  ML Trustee Role Description_May17

Applications should be made by submitting a letter addressed to Matthew Smith, Chair of Trustees, briefly outlining (in no more than two sides of A4) your experience, interest and explaining how you feel you could benefit Mencap Liverpool as a Trustee.  Please send via email to Sarah Jones  or post to the office address.

In addition, please complete our Equality and Diversity Monitoring questionnaire. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FJRNKZL

Applications should be emailed by Friday 20th April 2018
