How we spend donations
Supporting families in crisis
People with a learning disability and their parents and carers need additional support. We provide that support by being available to visit people in their homes as often as they need us. Our family support continues for as long as we are needed, ensuring that the family has all the help they need to overcome their current situation.
Quite simply this is work that we could not undertake without public support. Your donations really do bring countless benefits to the lives of people with a learning disability in Merseyside.
£50 could pay for us to undertake an initial assessment for a family in crisis, who desperately need advice and support.
Befriending
Having friends and being socially active is something that the majority of us take for granted, however it is often one of the hardest things for someone with a learning disability. With the generous support of the local community we have been able to set up a small scale Befriending project which puts members in touch with potential friends with shared interests. This small act really does change lives: through our befriending activities we have seen the huge difference that simply having one friend can make to people who have no-one else in their lives other than immediate family or paid support workers. Read about what having a befriender means to Paul.
£75 could pay for us to match a person with a learning disability with a volunteer befriender, giving them social opportunities previously unavailable to them.
