Aaron Mckenna for MMV Chair
Hi, I am Aaron McKenna.
I have been a member of Mencap Liverpool and Sefton for 3 years I have done a lot of things over this time.
I came to Mencap because I am passionate about our equal rights for people with a learning disability and I wanted to be a part of an excellent team and I knew that Mencap was made for me.
While I have been at Mencap in my first year alone, I got involved in lots of fundraising:
- Did the Liverpool Santa Dash and bucket collections – raising lots of money
- Delivered a media course to our members that I had designed and written
- I’ve also
- 5k for 5 days
- John Smiths 5k in Sefton Park
- Zip Wire over Goodison Park
- I have trained as a Boccia England Coach and deliver Boccia to our members
- We are in a Boccia League
- I am on the Mencap Liverpool and Sefton Football team ( which won our first cup in our first tournament!)
- I take part in all of the regular sessions – Gents, Drop In etc
- I have represented Mencap in Parliament
- I have spoken on Radio Merseyside and Radio City promoting Mencap
- I have worked with National Mencap to promote lots of different initiatives – my favourite was The Round the World Challenge
- I do lots outside of Mencap too – I love football and I play for Everton In the Community – and was awarded Managers Player of the Year 2020,
- I played for Liverpool Foundation and represented us in Germany
- I have great connections with local musicians who helped me do my Lockdown Live Event.
My skills are:
- Great communication skills
- Friendly and welcoming to everyone
- Hard working
- Dedicated
- Good time keeping
- Organised
- Social media skills
- Web search
- Computer skills
Please can you vote for me because I will excel in this role of being Chair, also I will make Mencap the best disability charity there is. Plus i will speak up for our members and new members and listen to you and work together to make our Mencap the best Mencap ever.
