2011 Marathon Effort #4
Well a week of training has since been followed by another week of enforced rest! After managing 8 miles in a fairly respectable time last Sunday, I’ve developed a problem with my right knee. Apparently it’s happened because the way I run has changed since my back problem and this is now putting stress on the knee. I’m still hoping I’ll be fit enough to run but it’s definitely touch and go now!
On a positive note, I’ve managed to bagsy a space in the Hilton for all our runners and supporters to meet up after the race. This doesn’t cost us anything as Hilton are one of the sponsors of the Liverpool Marathon. My ever patient physio friend will also be on hand to provide a post race massage- pretty much essential if you want to walk more than 5 feet the next day!
We are now looking to recruit people to cheer us along on the day. There are several desginated cheering points along the route so please let me know if there’s somewhere particular you want to stand. If you let us know your name and where you’lll be standing, I’ll make sure all our team know to look out for you and you’ll be welcome to join us afterwards in the Hilton for a cup of tea. If you’d like to meet up with other supporters and wear one of our lovely green Mencap Liverpool t-shirts, please let me know (we’ll probably be on Upper Parliament st) Click here to view the route
Please email me sarah.jones@mencapliverpool.org.uk if you’d like to join the cheering team or to take up one of the last running places.
If you haven’t done so already, please take a minute to sponsor us – visit the fundraising page here
