2011 Liverpool Marathon Effort- we did it!
A week has now passed since the Mencap Liverpool team completed the Run Liverpool Marathon. I’m pleased to say we all managed to finish (some quicker than others). Trustee Matt Smith crossed the line in a very impressive 3 hours 18 mins. I was next finshing in 4 hours 25, just passing Tom in the last two hundred meters who got 4.27. Damon and Trustee Phil fought cramp to finish in 4.40 and 5.06 respectfully. Befriender Kev fought the heat in his Bananaman outfit to come in at 5.23. Bringing up the rear was poor Gareth, who although he’d had to stop for half an hour at just over half way, still managed to complete the race in under 6 hours.
I’m amazed to have done so well considering I had so little time to train. I’m very proud of the whole team, a marathon is a huge undertaking. Between us we have raised nearly £4500 for Mencap Liverpool. Thanks to everyone who supported and sponsored us – especially to Charlie for the post-race massage, Bex Laurie and Ed for manning the stand and Brian for his words of encouragement and coming down to see us on the day.
If you’d still like to sponsor us, the page is still up
