2011 Liverpool Marathon Effort #3

Oh dear- this really isn’t going to plan!

I’ve just come back to work after being struck down by an evil virus, I’ve spent most of the last ten days sleeping and although I’m just about fit enough to be in work answering emails, I’m not good for much else so my training progress has hit yet another stumbling block!

I’ve had lots of sympathetic looks from everyone in the office and Derek bought me some lovely flowers but I think I’m going to have to kiss goodbye to my hopes of completeing the marathon in under 4 hours.

I was feeling very sorry for myself but as I’ve started writing this, I’ve remembered why I’m doing it.  The members of Mencap Liverpool overcome far greater difficulties than I’m facing and that’s just to have the chance of a ‘normal life’, not something crazy like running a marathon!  There’s also the acheivements of our paralympians to provide much inspiration- maybe I’ll use the time I’d normally be out running to apply for tickets for the London 2012 Paralympics- especially now that athletes with a learning disability are allowed to compete!

If you want to run the marathon too, you’ll need to apply for a charity place as the standard applications have now closed.  The good news is that we still have a few places left so contact me if you’re interested.  sarah.jones@mencapliverpool.org.uk or enter online

Sponsor us – visit the fundraising page here and/or Cheer us along on the day- It’s bound to be a fantastic atmosphere so should be a fun experience!
