#What Helped Me – Anne Marie’s Story

Anne Marie

I’ve been coming to Mencap Liverpool for about 3 years. I started coming ‘cause I wanted to come out of my shell and make new friends. To enable me to come here I had to have travel training to get here. I was shown how to use buses and cross roads. After this, the staff organisaed Merseylink for me so I could get out and about.
I have started a pamper course on a Friday now in Fazakerley Community Federation. This was organized by Mencap Liverpool and there we do massage hands, facials and we all take turns doing each other. It’s a six month course, it’s fantastic and the staff are lovely. I went there to deliver learning disability training to the volunteers and staff as part of the training team too. I also do the easy read checking which is helping me with my reading. I like getting up and talking in front of people.
