Independence Trainer

Can you be the person to help someone on their journey to a happy fulfilled life?

People with a learning disability are capable of amazing things, yet all too often they are held back by a lack of skills and the support to overcome the extra barriers they face.   Less than 7% of the learning disabled population are in paid employment, at a time where the UK is at almost full employment.

One of the first barriers to overcome is travel, so once again we have secured ESF funding to provide travel training.  The programme will then be broadened to include a wider range of skills, such as independent living,  confidence building, basic money management, CV & job search, work place etiquette and other skills to help people move closer to employment.

Based: Mencap Liverpool office, Liverpool City Centre and Mencap Cottage House, Crosby

Hours: 30 hours week which you can work in line with our flexi-time policy

Salary: £18,000 (Full time equivalent £22,500)

Term: This role is funded by an European Social Fund (ESF) Community Learning Grant until October 2020 and then by an ESF Priority Axis 1 – Inclusive Labour Markets grant until October 2022.
