Team Transformation

Gosia (Steve Morgan Foundation), The Lord Mayor and the members with our cheque

Thanks to funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation and Medicash, Mencap Liverpool are now able to offer an extensive programme of physical activities, alongside nutrition workshops, so that people can learn to prepare easy healthy meals on a tight budget.   To complement the physical health activities, we’ll also be running mindfulness and confidence-building courses.

“We all know that it’s harder to make positive choices when we feel bad about ourselves.  Many of our members suffer with poor self-esteem and low self-confidence as a result of bullying, discrimination, exclusion and years of social isolation.  We need to give people the tools to help maintain good mental well-being, to help improve their physical health, but also to transform their quality of life in the long term. ”

Charlotte’s job has been funded for three years by the Steve Morgan Foundation and Medicash have given us some project funding.  If you want to get more active, why don’t you join in with one of these groups?

Monday-  walking & running

Wednesday- tennis and dance

Thursday- Gym

Friday- Boxing, Bikes and Five-a-side

And there are lots of opportunities to try other activities.  We’ll be holding sports days and supporting individual members to access activities independently.

If you’re already a member, speak to Charlotte.  If you’re not yet a member, then click here to find out who we work with and fill out a referral form

You can even train to be a walk leader, run leader or ride leader and help others get fit!
